Girls Aloud No More

I was gutted by the news of Girls Aloud disbanding. Another good band bites the dust. When it came to girl pop bands, they dominated for an entire decade. Upon hearing the news, obviously I went to on YouTube and put Girls Aloud songs on replay. Much to the dismay of my neighbor  who since having a broken shoulder could not escape the awesome music blaring from my place. To end my mourning session, I spent Easter Sunday watching their final concert at the O2, and the accompanying documentary (Yeah, what an exciting life I lead).
Since I was obsessing about the band, it only seems fair that I share my all-time top five songs for Girls Aloud.

       1)    Something New: I was obsessed with their comeback single when it was first released. And it is my all-time girls aloud single. It is so different from everything they have given over the ears. It is catchy, playful, fun, and easy to sing along too. And they looked adorable with their donuts bun hairdos, and matching orange dresses.

2) The Promise: Seriously is there anyone who hate this song? The retro vibe to it makes it so special. It was one of the biggest hits for the girls. The production company was not a big fan of this song, and the girls had to fight for it to be featured in their album. next thing they know, they were awarded a Brits for it, and performed it for the Queen.

     3) Sound of the Underground: the song that started it all. Even though I have not heard this song in ages, but when it was playing I was singing along to it word for word.

      4) No Good Advice:  the good old days, when the videos were not elaborate, and the girls were dressed in low quality outfits, and have cheesy dance moves. However the song is so catchy, and a reincarnation of the “Girl Power” era of the Spice Girls.

       5) Life Got Cold: this song has more rhyming words put together than any rap song. The lyrics are so nice and deep, for a pop song at least.

So here is to one of the biggest girl band of all times.  Can’t wait for the reunion tour, or a musical based on their songs perhaps.
