And the award for worst blogger goes to ….. ME!!!!
I know in my previous post I promised that I will be more active
and will pot stuff on more regular basis, and obviously I did not keep to my
promise.Of course I have a long list of excuses to justify and defend myself, such as; I was traveling during the holidays, I removed my wisdom teeth, and when I finally managed to get back to England I was swamped with heaps and heaps of things I have planned to do over the holidays but never managed to, because I preferred eating home cooked food to the extent of getting a food coma, while watching two seasons of House back to back. (P.s I have developed a new infatuation for Dr.House). In addition to all that is the best excuse ever of; I did not have proper internet connection (story of my life). And the cherry on top of this endless list is the fact that my laptop’s keyboard started to have a mind of its own. Only a day before my flight back to England, the “K" and “dot” button decided to take their own vacation; 48 hours before a deadline for two assignments that add up to 6000 words! Can you imagine how hard it is to write all that, having to pause for each “k” and “.” To insert them from the on-screen keyboard.
despite of it all, I am not going to use any of these
excuses to get away with my laziness, on the contrary I will own up to my
tardiness. However; this is a new year, so I was thinking of having a fresh
start!
And as it is always the case at the beginning of a new year,
we sit down and decide to take drastic majors in the upcoming year to turn our
lives upside down, and get rid of every single bad trait we have, only to abandon
the project two weeks later, using some lame excuses.I am the first to admit that I do this every single year, but this year I am trying a new approach, and it is working so far. I am setting more realistic goals to aim for. And no this does not make me a weak person, who is not daring enough to take drastic measures, on the contrary I see it as more setting up the foundation work and the necessarily infrastructure to pave the way for the drastic changes.
In the majority of the cases, we set up unrealistic, and
impossible to achieve goals, that is why we never go far with these plans, and
give up on them. However, if we dissect them, and break them to smaller parts
and set off to accomplish them in stages, it will be easier for us to achieve them,
and this is exactly what I am doing.
I am going to share with you five New Year’s resolution that
I want to accomplish this year, to show you how I am doing it:1) Lead a healthier lifestyle: this is quite a vague decision, but this vagueness gives me flexibility in choosing methods and ways to go on doing it. Instead of saying I will stop eating junk food, or I will restrict my calories intake to 1500 calories a day or I am going to the gym every day for three hours, I go on taking several small steps, such as taking vitamins every morning, stopped drinking coke, trying out new healthier recipes (which have all ended up in disaster so far). Yes, I still eat the occasional Pizza from Dominos, and drink coke from time to time, but this does not demotivate me or make me abandon this project. True that I have promised myself to start going to the gym, and I still have not done that because I am super busy with so many things, but I know I will be taking this step soon, and in the mean time I keep on trying to find new ways to help me improve my lifestyle.
2) Manage my time better: this is a nice way of saying, stop
being a procrastinating loser, who leaves everything into the last minute and
then go into a panic frenzy, trying to finish everything on time while
promising thyself this would be the last time this would ever happen, only to repeat the
same routine few weeks later. I am reading books on time management, and trying
to be more organised with the way I handle my plans and schedules. Even though,
I still struggle and leave things to the last minute, but I am making some
improvement. At least I am managing to get into class on time, without running
after the bus every morning, it takes me only ten minutes a day to clean up my
room, and I make sure that I do important things first, before getting swamped
by small little things that for some odd reason tae hours to get done.
3) Read more: I have
set up a goal of reading 12 books during this year. Which means one book a
month, again it is a very realistic and achievable goal and even though I am a
bit behind on my “January” book, I know I will make up for this lost time
during the slower months. 4) Stop hating: I am someone who has an opinion about anything and everything, and the majority of the time my opinions are not that pleasant or friendly. I realise this is not a good habit and I should be nicer in my opinions, and think better of people, and I am making some improvements. For instance; I used to hate the guts of Justin Bieber, and even though I still don’t like the little kid, he is starting to grown on me, and I actually have his song “as long as you love me” on my Ipod.
it is all about taking baby steps.
5) Blog more: and this time I am keeping to my promise. I know it took me 22 days since the New Year to act on this resolution, but hey at least I got here. I promise to be more consistent with my blogging activities and try to post something new at least once a week. Because, I really love having a blog, and I really want to make it have a more prominent part in my life.
So there you have it, five projects to work on this year. It I true that I am taking small steps towards them but they are steady and firm ones, and I am sure that in no time I will be making great progress, and picking up speed.
So until next time ( which will be very soon)
